Vasectomy for Male Sterilization

A permanent birth control method for men is called a Vasectomy. Though, it is considered as a permanent method for sterilization, the procedure can be reversed in some cases. It is done as an outpatient procedure. Vasectomy is performed under general or local anesthesia and the total time consumption is 30 minutes. During the procedure, the patient experiences a mild or moderate pain in the testicles for few seconds. After that the patients will be advised to take rest for one day, avoid heavy lifting, avoiding strenuous physical work and postponing in sexual activity for few days.

Traditional Vasectomy

With the help of a surgical instrument called Scalpel (that is, a knife with a small, sharp, sometimes detachable blade) maximum two incisions are made on the scrotum skin near the base of the penis. Soon after the vas deferens exposure, they are blocked or cut. Some options such as cutting the tubes and tying the tubule end, burning the tubes with a heated tool, or blocking the vas deferens with the surgical clips are handled. The scrotum incisions are then closed with small stitches.

No-scalpel Vasectomy

It is a less-invasive procedure, which necessitates only tiny incisions. Vas deferens is accessed by making maximum two punctures by the surgeon. After widening the punctured place, the surgeon blocks or cut each vas deferens. The tiny puncture is then dressed up and there is no need for sutures. To suppress the pain ice bag, pain reliever, and athletic supporter is prescribed to the patients. The pain is comparatively less in non-incision procedures.
The side effects after the surgery would be swelling, discoloration, bruising the in scrotal site. Body pain, headache, and nausea will be the effects of anesthesia which will diminish after few days.
